Humidor Construction
There are 167 detailed steps required in the creation of an American Heritage Collection humidor. All of our humidors are assembled using a lock-miter joint, Lock-Miter Jointwhich is the strongest and most secure joint design available. Many humidor manufacturers use a simpler and weaker joint, such as a standard miter or lap joint. The lock-miter joint offers a larger gluing surface, will not crack and become loosened over time, and is not affected by the humidity of the humidor. This joint is especially preferred because the end grain does not show on the corners. This allows for a continuous flow of the face grain of the wood, which produces a more beautiful finish.

To assure that a perfect fit is achieved between the base and the lid of the humidor, the entire box is first assembled. The box is then cut to separate the base from the lid. This also means that the grain will always be perfectly matched.

Lacquer Finish
The exterior of the humidor is crafted using only the finest, solid, kiln dried, 3/4" hardwoods available. There are no veneers, laminates, plywoods, or fiberboards used in any of our humidors. We use genuine Mahogany, Cherry, Black Walnut, and Red Oak to construct a truly exquisite humidor. All of our humidors are finished using a nine-step finishing procedure. After the surface of the humidor has been throughly sanded, a beautiful hand-rubbed stain is applied to enhance the beauty, grain, and texture of the wood. A multiple coat of specially formulated "Super Sheen" lacquer finish is then applied to protect your humidor and keep it looking like new for years. Because lacquer is a very hard and durable finish, it is the choice of professional furniture finishers. The bottom of the humidor is lined with felt to protect the surface on which you choose to place it. To clean the humidor, you need only to wipe it with a soft cloth.

Liner/Hardware
Gold Plated HingesGold Plated LocksThe interior of the humidor is lined with 3/8" Spanish Cedar to properly age and protect your fine cigars. We line not only the sides, as many manufactures do, but also the top and bottom of each humidor. The tray and dividers are also crafted from 3/8" Spanish Cedar, and the dividers are foam tipped for easy insertion. On all of our humidors we use only the highest quality, gold plated quadrant hinges and locks. We use gold plated hinges and locks because they will never tarnish as brass will over the years.

Humidification System
When you purchase one of our humidors you are getting a complete package, not just a fancy cigar box. The most important feature of a humidor is the humidification system. You will not find an economy humidification system in any of our humidors. A beautiful humidor is worthless if it does not maintain a relative humidity of 70 percent to properly humidify your cigars. Hygrometer & HumidifierIf the humidity is too low, your cigars will be dry and burn too quickly, and the smoke will be hot and acrid. If the humidity is too high, your cigars will be damp and be hard to draw, and the smoke will be heavy and pungent.

Included with each of our American Heritage Collection humidors are a Credo Humidifier, a Credo Hygrometer, and a bottle of Credo Special Care Solution. We use Credo exclusively because it has long been recognized as the premier humidification system for preserving and protecting fine cigars. On our entire line of humidors, we use a Gold Credo Humidifier and a Gold Credo Hygrometer for the aficionado who demands the absolute best. We also include a Setup and Care Chart with each of our humidors. There are absolutely no additional add-ons or options that you need to purchase when you buy an American Heritage Collection humidor.
